Obituary for Walter M. Limberger


Walter M. Limberger, 93, of Ellington, beloved husband of Charlotte (Luginbuhl) Limberger, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 15, 2018, with his family by his side. He was born July 13, 1924 in Rockville, to the late Ernest and Lena (Yost) Limberger. He proudly served in WWII in the US Army Air Corps as a tail gunner on a B-17 Flying Fortress, and was called by all who knew him as “the nicest man I know.” Walt liked to play his guitar and sing for family and friends. Music was one of his greatest enjoyments in life. Besides his wife, he is survived by his children; Wayne Limberger (Carol), Janet Phelps(Dwight),Brian Limberger(Nancy), David Limberger, Donald Limberger(Heesun),Luann MacIntosh(Neil), Lois Limberger(Tom Crawford), Dean Limberger(Vickie) and Beth Law(Mark); 18 Grandchildren and 10 Great-Grandchildren., 7 stepchildren and many extended family members. He was predeceased by his first wife, Irma (Hare) Limberger and his grandson, Derek Somers.Familyand friends may call on the family on Monday, May 21, 2018 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at The Apostolic Christian Church, 34 Middle Butcher Rd, Ellington, CT. A Funeral Service will take place at 10:30 am on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at the Church. Burial with military honors will follow at Ellington Center Cemetery.
