Obituary for Jere W. Murphy

Jere W. Murphy Jr. of East Windsor, beloved husband of Jeannie Pomeroy-Murphy, passed away Friday, October 13, 2017.

He was born November 20, 1964, in Hartford, Connecticut, the son of Jere W. Murphy Sr. and Dianne Carroll-Lombard. He served in the United States Navy for 23 years and retired as a Chief Petty Officer. He received many Navy accommodation medals including Sailor of the Year and Expert Marksmanship. After his retirement from the U.S. Navy, he utilized his knowledge and military training as a field technician for Harland Technologies.

Jere operated Music by Murph, services that included DJing events, karaoke, and sound engineering for various bands including Just Jeannie, Off the Cufflinx, Let’s Do This, and more. He had a passionate love for music and helping his friends and family achieve the best quality sound.

Besides his loving wife, Jeannie, he is survived by his children, Ryan Murphy, Nate Murphy, Sam Maher and his wife, Sabrina Mastrioanni, and Carly Maher. He also leaves behind his father, Jere W. Murphy Sr. of Enfield, CT., sister and brother in-law, Nancy and Mark Eastwood of Somers, CT., and brothers, John Murphy of Drums, PA., and Michael Murphy of Enfield, CT., and his mother-in-law Agnes Pomeroy of East Windsor, CT. He was predeceased by his mother, Dianne Carroll-Lombard of Palmer, MA. and his father-in-law Donald R. Pomeroy.

Jere was a beloved uncle to seventeen nieces and nephews, and five great nieces and nephews who loved their “Uncle DJ Jere”. Jere was also very excited to be a first time grandfather to grandson Nicholas David Maher, son of Sam and Sabrina.

Calling hours are Tuesday, October 17th, 4pm-7pm at the Bassinger & Dowd Funeral Home at 37 Gardner Street, East Windsor, Connecticut; a funeral home service will follow the next day, Wednesday, October 18th, at 11am.
