Obituary for Mary Butler (Kibbe)

Mary Butler (Kibbe)
Butler, Mary (Kibbe), 85 of Ellington, died Thursday (August 24, 2017) surrounded by her family at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford. She was born September 18, 1931 in Ellington and was the daughter of the late William Kibbe and Nellie (Hathaway) Kibbe.

Mary was a lifelong resident of Ellington, a town which she held very dear to her heart. She was a graduate of Rockville High School, Class of 1949. Mary was a proud employee of Rockville High School for over 20 years. She enjoyed baking for her family, family vacations in Ogunquit, Maine, and being involved with her church, St. Lukes.

She will be dearly missed by her loving family and many friends. Mary is survived by her daughter Marybeth Narkawicz and husband, Thom of Vernon; her son, Staff Sergeant Robert A. Butler Jr. of Ellington; grandson Thomas Narkawicz and wife Jessica of Tolland; granddaughter Dina Steindl and husband William of Southington. Words cannot express how much she loved and adored her five great-grandchildren Lilly, Sophia, Emme, Thommy, and Lucy all of whom equally adored her. She is also survived by several nieces. She was pre-deceased by a sister, Helen Kibbe; and three brothers Bill, Earl and Alvin Kibbe.

Friends may gather at 12 p.m. Friday, September 1, at the Church of Saint Luke, 14 Maple Street, Ellington, CT 06029 for a Mass of Christian Burial. The burial will be in Ellington Center Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect St, Rockville on Thursday, from 5-7 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Lea’s Foundation for Leukemia - 522 Cottage Grove Road – Building H Bloomfield, CT 06002.
