Obituary for Forrest D. LaPointe


Forrest D. LaPointe, 70, of Springfield and beloved husband of 38 years to Rosibel (Solano) LaPointe, went to eternal rest on Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2017 at Baystate Medical Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born Feb. 9, 1947 in Montague, MA to the late Bernard and Marie (Horstdaniel) LaPointe. He graduated from Trade School, Class of 65. He was a Veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the US Air force. He continued to serve in the Air Force Reserve and served with the 58th Aerial Port Squadron at Westover Air Reserve Base. He was a member of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church where he was very active serving the parish where he could be needed. He was an active member of the VFW Post 9397 in Hampden, MA where he was the former Quartermaster. He loved to travel and was a great outdoors man who loved to go fishing, hunting, golfing and loved to ski in his earlier years. He also loved sports and was on three bowling leagues at the AMF in Chicopee and served on many boards there. He enjoyed playing softball with the senior league. Besides his loving wife Rosibel, he is survived by his two daughters, Ingrid Solano and her fiancée, Miguel and Jessica LaPointe and her fiancée, Julius all from Springfield; his brother and sister-in-law, Galen and Dana LaPointe of CO; his sister, Maureen LaPointe of AZ; his three loving grandchildren, Gabrielle, Nadia, and Aliyana. Forrest is also survived by his nieces, nephews and his extended family members, as well as many friends. Forrest was pre-deceased by his brother, Arnold LaPointe. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family from 2-5 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 27, 2017 at the Bassinger & Dowd Funeral Home, 37 Gardner Street, East Windsor, CT 06088. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, Aug. 28, 2017 at St. John the Evangelist Church, 833 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001. (Please meet directly at church) Burial with Military Honor will follow at Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA.
