Obituary for Anna Catherine Martocchio

Anna Catherine Martocchio, 78, of South Windsor, formerly of Vernon went home to her heavenly Father on Saturday, August 12, 2017. She was born May 6, 1939 in Hartford, the daughter of the late George and Mary (Fanelli) Martocchio. She retired from the City of Hartford Health Department after 40 years. She was a longtime member and very involved with St. Luke Church in Ellington. She was a lector, Eucharistic Minister, taught first communion classes, sang in the choir, was part of the liturgical committee and council, and counted the collections on Monday mornings. She loved music. She is survived by her siblings, George Martocchio and his wife Katie of Springfield, MA, Rosemary Martocchio of Ellington, and Richard Martocchio and his wife Gloria of Vernon; her nephews, Michael Martocchio and his wife Mandy of NC and Marc Martocchio and his wife Nicole of FL; her special cousin/sister, Kathy Rabe of Vernon who was always there; and several great nieces and nephews. She also leaves her longtime friend, Carol Dicioccio who brought her communion every week and stayed to chat with her. She was predeceased by her nephew, Anthony Martocchio. The family would like to thank the staff of Vernon Manor for their care and the staff of The Residence in South Windsor for their kindness and care. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at St. Luke Church, 141 Maple St., Ellington, CT 06029. Burial will follow at Ellington Center Cemetery.
