Mary T. Schmidt, 89, of Coventry, beloved wife of the late William Schmidt passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2017. She was born March 28, 1928 in Fitchburg, MA, the daughter of the late Charles J. and Margaret C. (Sullivan) Ware. She worked for Boston Hospital, Mt. Sinai Hospital, University of PA, OBGYN Group of Hartford and retired after over 20 years from the Meadows in Manchester. She was an avid reader and loved knitting and cooking. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Schmidt; her son, Richard Schmidt; her two sisters, Margaret “Peggy” Banks and her husband Robert and Kathryn “Kay” Johnson and her husband Kenneth; her grandchildren, Heather, James and Jonah Shanahan, Brittany Hamilton and Kalen Schmidt; and her great grandchildren, Madison Murphy Shanahan, Piper, Chance and Lucas DeCresenzo, and Ethan and Piper Hamilton. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her son, Robert Schmidt. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at St. Mary’s Church, 1600 Main St. (Rte. 31) Coventry, CT 06238. Burial will follow at Center Cemetery, Coventry.
