Elizabeth (Betty) Miner, 91, of Mansfield, beloved wife of the late Lionel Miner, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, May 29, 2016. She was born July 16, 1924 in Ogdensburg, NY. Betty was an easygoing and caring person who lived life with a good sense of humor, and she wanted to be remembered with life’s stories and laughter. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, bingo, casinos, gardening, tag sales, crocheting, cooking for others, and a good cup of coffee (especially when someone else made it for her). She also liked to travel and would often take trips to Upstate New York, Canada, California, Tennessee, and Alaska to visit relatives. Also, she was a huge Johnny Cash fan and loved his music. Although she held jobs as a typesetter, secretary at Connecticut Mutual Insurance, Co-Owner of Hartford Diner with Lionel, and worked for Connecticut Home Care Agency Companions and Homemakers, she always believed that her most important role was being a Mother. She is survived by her children Joseph Miner and his wife Patricia of Thompson and Linda Miner of Willington. She also leaves her sister Isabelle Caya and her husband Leonard of Willimantic, and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Elizabeth was predeceased by her siblings Charlie, Marvin, Francis, Margaret, and Laura. We wish to thank the kind and caring team at Mansfield Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation and at Dial-A-Ride. Relatives and friends are invited to join the family on Saturday, June 4, 2016 from 9:00 am – 10:00 am at the Coventry-Pietras Funeral Home, 2665 Boston Tpke (Rt. 44), Coventry, for a celebration of Betty’s life. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 am at St. Mary’s Church, 1600 Main Street (Route 31) Coventry. Burial will follow at Willington Hill Cemetery, Willington.
