Obituary for Earl F. Larson Sr.

Earl F.  Larson Sr.
Earl F Larson Sr., 81, lifelong resident of East Windsor, CT passed away peacefully at home on January 31, 2016. Earl was born in 1934, son of the late Earl H and Norma F Larson. He is survived by Janet Olson Larson, his devoted wife of 58 years.Before graduating from Ellsworth High School in South Windsor, he was a Gold Medalist at the Jr National Speed Skating Championship in Colorado and later went on to serve his country in the Army and Navy. His distinguished and enjoyable career was dedicated to Earl Larson and Sons as a general contractor. He was a master craftsman, builder and spent his free time building furniture and carving decoys.He also served on numerous boards and appointments, including terms as Police Commissioner, Fire Commissioner, Constable and an officer of the Warehouse Point Fire Department. He was president of the EW Rotary Club and Commodore at the Middletown Yacht Club. He enjoyed aviation, gardening, spoiling his cherished dogs, and appreciated the beauty of nature and birds.In addition to his wife, Earl is survived by his four children. Eldest son Earl Larson Jr and his wife April of Coventry and three beloved daughters, Lori Lewis and her husband Robert of Windsor Locks, Lynn Bray and Lisa Thompson both of East Windsor.Earl cherished his grandchildren; Derek Larson, Rachel Larson, Paul Lewis, Jason Lewis, Kelly Lewis, Ashley Bray, Abigail Bray, Alyssa Bray, Meagan Thompson and great grandchildren Aiden and Jordon Larson. He is also survived by a brother Ronald H. Larson and his wife Cheryl of Vermont. He was predeceased by Raymond Larson of Broad Brook. Relatives and friends may join the family on Thursday, February 4, 2016 from 3-6 pm at Bassinger & Dowd Funeral Home, 37 Gardner St, East Windsor. A Funeral Home Service will take place at 6:00 pm. Burial will be private at the request of the family. Memorial donations may be made in his name to the Warehouse Point Fire Department, PO Box 738/89 Bridge St, East Windsor, CT 06088.
