Violet “Sandy” M. Brittain Ouellette, 77, of Calabash, North Carolina passed away peacefully on December 3, 2015 at Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center, Leland, North Carolina. Sandy was born June 1, 1938 in Tewksbury MA and grew up in Western Massachusetts with her parents Houghton “Hooper” and Doris (Pomeroy) Shaw. She moved to Connecticut where she worked as an Inspector at Pratt & Whitney until her retirement to Calabash, North Carolina. She was a passionate Red Sox fan, who enjoyed going to games at Fenway, spring training in Florida, and even minor league affiliates. She loved the ocean and went on numerous cruises. She became an avid golfer after retirement and enjoyed golfing with the girls. An animal lover, Sandy volunteered at Cat Tails rescue of Ocean Isle Beach, NC. She was preceded in death by her husband of 20 years, Walter Ouellette, daughter and son, Dona (Brittain) Govin, Mark Ouellette and, and grandson Ryan Naab. Sandy is survived by daughters Patsy (Brittain) Daley of Northampton, MA, Sandee A. Brittain of Rockville, CT, Susan (Ouellette) Naab and her husband Russell Naab of Lakeland, FL; sons Greg Ouellette and his significant other Barbara Hansen of Coventry, CT, David Wilkins and his wife Theresa of Crisfield, MD; grandson Robert Bolling and his fiancée Adrienne Gory of Chicopee, MA; sisters and brother, Frances (Parlow) Haynes of Albuquerque, NM, Charlotte A. (Parlow) Stone of Stoughton, MA, Edward Winchester and his wife Gale of Billerica, MA. Sandy also had numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family. A special thank you to Gil and Joyce Ouellette of Calabash, NC whose love and support enriched her life beyond words of appreciation. A memorial service will be held at Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect St, Rockville, CT 06066 at 6 pm Thursday, December 17, 2015. Calling hours are 4-6 pm.
